The Endless Job Search
It never amazes me how some people keep a sunny disposition in the face of repeated rejection. It must be something in the genes -- genes that apparently I don't have. It takes all my inner reserves not be completely deflated at every small defeat andr resentful of others' success. It reminds of an observation about human nature made by the novelist Walker Percy. While traveling on the subway in New York City some time ago he noticed that most people going to work in the morning wore a pale, ground down look apparently thinking about the day come. It wasn't until they opened up the Daily News and read about the horrible tragedy suffered by someone else did they brighten up and get ready to face the day.
